Yahoo and Comcast : a deal which could pave the way for a new advertising model

Mark Cuban really got the underlying potential of the deal just announced 2 days ago between Yahoo and Comcast.net, the web site of the N° 2 cable company in the US. Under the deal, Yahoo’s advertising sales unit will be the primary marketing and sales channel for Comcast.net display and video advertising. He calls it the « deal of the year » and here is why. In a few words, since Comcast delivers video to private customers, it can bypass the internet to target messages and deliver high quality value added advertising. Mark says :

Together Comcast and Yahoo have created an advertising playground that could potentially define the future of advertising on the net. Rules that even Google and Microsoft would have to follow.
