Web 2.0 Expo #9: Mitchell Baker – Chairman of the Mozilla Corporation

Here are a couple of quotes from Mitchell Baker – Chairman of the Mozilla Corporation, while she was making her speech at Web 2.0 Expo today in San Francisco.

There is one web. For each of us, we should not be thinking about what kind of data we’re looking for. That does not work well for people and the internet. The questions are: What can I get to and what can I do with it? We should be able to access information, play it, mash it, create it, share it, whether I’m at home, at work or elsewhere, using a computer or a mobile.

We don’t know what people will do with their mobile devices. This is a new era. The mental constraints are not as strong and we can get pass them. We need an open web based platform.

We see Firefox as that platform, as the platform that developers can use to reach people. We’re aiming to do that in the mobile world. Fenec is a Firefox prototype. The fatest and most efficient way to be there.
