Eyeka launches the public beta version of its online marketplace.

Last weeks have been pretty busy at Eyeka, the video and photo marketplace for new talents on new media.

We will publish on October 31st a first version of our marketplace which we will be significantly upgrade over the next 2 weeks. Technology based projects always seem to take longer than one expects. Sounds familiar? Our objective is to have a fully operational marketplace by mid-November. That’s good news for our community of talented authors, sold so far through deals with Canal+ Mobile, Paris Match, NT1, 20 Minutes among other leading media in France. It was however impossible to scale our development without this upcoming online marketplace.

An important milestone
This launch is an important milestone for the video and photo 2.0 industry as it allows talented photographers and videasts all over the world to create their own shows and to sell them to media and corporate buyers. It also materializes our initial vision and anticipated business model, allowing a community to make money for itself. All media on Eyeka belong to their author who certifies that he/she owns the copyright and gives Eyeka a non-exclusive licence to sell his/her content. It appears rather different from traffic based sites which target advertising generated revenues.

Unveiling some of our innovations
Professional buyers will be able to download photos and videos as they always did. However, to meet their expectations for easy and simple access, we have considerably simplified the rates by defining 10 main usages and prices. We will also introduce a unique way to acquire content as part of subscriptions for buyers’ web or mobile TVs. They will pay for content based on viewing time for each photo or video and authors will receive a share of this revenue.

So keep watching, send us your comments, help us finetune our marketplace … as you’ve always been.
Congratulations to the Eyeka team …
