Yahoo! is also in the news for its product developments and they are trying hard to make it easy and simple for the mobile user. Joe Hayashi, Senior Director Mobile Product Management, discusses oneConnect:
the first mobile product with an open architecture that aggregates communications tools – email, instant messaging (IM), text messaging (SMS), and social networks.
OneConnect starts with people in your phonebook, you then select which applications you’ll link to that person. It will be available in Q2 – 2008 through Yahoo!Go. The business model is advertising and Joe is rather bullish on the service. They will capitalize on the success of Yahoo! oneSearch(TM), an optimized search experience designed for the mobile device. By the way, Tmobile selected Onsearch which brings the total to 29 operators partnerships around the world and 600 Million mobile subscribers.
