Wikio published the list of the most influencial French Weblogs. I rank 184th!

Wikio published today the list of the most influencial French Weblogs. The ranking system is simply based on the number of links pointing towards the weblog and the value of these links. The value is based on an algorithm which takes into account the ranking of the blog. Wikio is a social network which takes into account the growing potential of the web as a source of information and thus as an influencial tool as the press and the television have been and still are.

This ranking did put the french blogosphere in turmoil. One of the reason : Loic Le Meur does not rank first anymore. He takes it with his usual sense of humour.

Pierre Chappaz, Wikio’s Chairman and co-founder explains the ranking. Pierre was CEO of Kelkoo (1999-2004), the leading european shopping engine. President, Yahoo Europe (2004). Currently co-CEO, Netvibes. He explains Wikio here.

Wikio is “a personalized webpage of information, including a search engine that combs news-media sites and blogs”. Look at it as an option against Digg, Google News, Technorati. It has been initially financed by business angels : Loic Le Meur, Martin Varsavsky, Freddy Mini, Ouriel Ohayon, and Jeff Clavier. They then recently raised $4m.
